FuelCell Energy has reached a significant clean power generation milestone with a total of more than eight million megawatt hours having been generated by SureSource™ fuel cell power plants globally since the first commercial installation.
SureSource plants are currently installed and operating on three continents, with many owned by leading utility companies from around the world that recognise the benefit of clean, continuous power. FuelCell Energy is a global leader committed to environmentally responsible power solutions.
According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), eight million megawatt hours of clean energy production is enough to offset about 13 billion pounds of carbon dioxide emissions and adequate to power over 725,000 average size US homes for one year, 1,800,000 German homes for one year or 2,235,000 South Korean homes for one year.
FuelCell Energy’s SureSource fuel cells have a low carbon footprint. The high efficiency of SureSource power plants contributes to favourable economics through lower fuel consumption as fuel cell power plants generate more power from a given unit of fuel than similar size internal combustion-based power generation. The plants are up to 60% electrically efficient and can achieve total thermal efficiency up to 90% in a combined heat and power (CHP) configuration, depending on the application.
