In the final part of a four-part series on pressure regulators,Keith Hall explores the basics of controlling pressure in cryogenic tanks when using a single, combined-function pressure-building/back-pressure economizer regulator
A year ago, in the 2024 cryogenics issue of gasworld US, we started this four-part series with an overview of the various regulators used in our cryogenic industry.
The second part, published in July 2024, featured pressure-building/pressure-reducing regulators – opposite-sounding names for the same regulator, and the most common regulator used in the industrial gas industry. Part three explored the basics of how back-pressure economizer regulators assist in controlling pressure in cryogenic tanks.
For our final outing in this series on regulators, we will discuss the function of the combined two-in-one pressure-building/economizer regulator – how it works, and how it is used in our cryogenic industry.
