It is a dynamic time when it comes to carbon dioxide (CO2). The global decarbonization drive as the world targets Net Zero has unleashed a wave of innovation in relation to finding applications for CO2 – and the past 12 months has seen big strides made.
Here’s our attempt to do that varied journey justice, by zeroing in on some of the most significant projects and innovations in CO2.
Setting up new industrial processes takes time, of course, but the will and skill is there in abundance – and there are major project milestones to celebrate as well as innovative pilots and fledgling businesses full of promise.
Consider, if you will, that in the past year we have seen the first-ever commercial-scale e-fuels facility starting production, as well as the first-ever direct air capture (DAC) CO2 plant being switched on. And there will be a lot more breakthroughs and stories to tell in the next 12 months, with projects moving forward all over the place.
