In the US, the technologies have gained ground as sustainability and utility consumptions are important for companies to consider. Pentair’s sustainable brewing solutions integrate its innovative valve technology, membrane technology for water utilities, carbon dioxide (CO2) systems, cold block systems, Beer Membrane Filtration (BMF), microfiltration, and quality control equipment with all functions of a brewery.
One of the strongest trends right now is investment in a BMF technology instead of the more traditional DE (diatomaceous earth) filtration, and here Pentair is a strong market leader. Product Manager Mark Mol, Pentair X-Flow, explained, “In 2019, Pentair has commissioned the 150th Beer Membrane Filter, and with this installed base annually more than 150 million hectoliters of beer are produced. Another interesting fact is that already 10% of the worldwide beer production is filtered with membranes. Twenty years ago, the only way to filter beer was with DE filters.”
