The company’s advanced gasification process is based on a single-stage, fluidizedbed technology for the production of low-tomedium heating value synthesis gas (syngas) from a wide array of feedstocks including coals, coal wastes, biomass, coal and biomass blends, and other waste fuels by using oxygen, oxygen-enriched air, or air in the gasification reaction.
SES’ technology was first deployed at its ZaoZhuang (ZZ) plant in Shandong Province, China. The plant has two SES gasifiers which operate at a pressure of 3 bar and with a capacity of up to 400 tons per day (tpd) of coal-based feed for each gasifier. Syngas from this joint venture is used by the local coke producer to supplement methanol production from its coke oven gas.
