Monitoring gases, particularly oxygen, to ensure process safety has grown in importance over the years. There is an increasing need to run processes at optimal oxygen concentrations in order to increase efficiency, reduce process costs and to meet emissions regulation. This means that gas concentrations are frequently set close to their safe maximum.
While this reduces both costs and waste emissions, it requires high levels of accuracy to ensure that gases remain at a safe level. However, process conditions often make this a challenge. A wide range of sensing technologies exist for oxygen gas analysis and selecting the correct one for each application is key to effective process safety.
