In 2015, the North American market was valued at $23.1bn, down from around $24.1bn in 2014. A large proportion of this can be attributed to currency fluctuations, which hit the gas markets of Canada and Mexico particularly hard.
The economy (in current dollars) in the region has fared well over the course of the last five years, posting an average growth rate of 3.0% per annum (p.a.). However, this is largely due to the effect of the US economy, which is vastly larger in comparison to the declining economies of Canada and Mexico.
