Industrial gas production in Russia has been under a cloud since the country’s invasion of Ukraine in early 2022, with many countries and multinationals withdrawing from trade and business. The ongoing conflict means there is no way back from this situation.
So what does Amur GPP’s massive helium production capability mean on the world stage now? Kornbluth’s presentation addressed this question.
“Amur GPP is a major facility and the helium it produces will find its way into the global helium market,” he said. “And remember, there are no direct sanctions on Russian helium today. All the sanctions that apply are indirect. Amur, though, has the capability within a few years of producing 2bcf of helium annually, against global production now of 5.9bcf.”
