As the hydrogen industry grows into a truly global market it is going to require a range of transportation and storage solutions. Type 1 tubes have been deployed in industrial gas applications for over 60 years, and now that there is an emergence of new markets, such as alternative fuels, there is a demand for different products such a Type 4 tubes.
Today, Type 1 pressure vessels on hydrogen trailers usually operate at pressures of 3,000 psi (206 bar). But the hydrogen market is seeking to more than double this, to around 7,000 psi (500 bar) to achieve larger payloads and to enable cascade refueling. Given this, it is incumbent on gas containment equipment companies like FIBA to work with the market to anticipate these future needs and meet them.
Prototype trailer boosts payload
At FIBA’s Pennsylvania location a new, higher pressure and larger capacity hydrogen trailer has been unveiled. And the company believes this to be a unique product that will lead the way to a wider adoption of such trailers.
