In summary, current business owner demographics are causing families to sell their businesses because the prior generation is ready to retire at a time when the successor generation does not yet have adequate experience in the business.
In this second installment of this two-part series, we posit that families can face the realities of succession planning by using transactions that don’t require the family to sell the business, thereby satisfying the family’s collective objectives and keeping the family business “in the family.”
