After four major global shortages spanning 11 years across the past 18, a production gap remains in North America and beyond, delivering uncertainty for suppliers and end-users alike, and holding back the evolution of some helium-dependent activities.
What’s the source of the shortages and of the uncertainty? In part it is down to geopolitics, in part to production volumes that have gone missing or been delayed, and in part to the challenges surrounding the next wave of smaller-scale production. There is overlap between these three headliners, but still a lot of truth in this basic picture.
