Hank Grieco’s experience of the recent Gulf Coast Conference suggests this growing event is one to mark on your calendar this year.
The 2010 Gulf Coast Conference was again held at Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas on October 12th and 13th. The addition of The Fuel Ratings Symposium to the agenda, as well as the conference itself initiating a symposium dedicated to the Gulf Oil Spill substantially increased all sections of attendance. Both these new activities are in line with the conference’s mission statement: “to provide GCC attendees with news, technical and business information, which will educate about the petrochemical, refining, environmental, and industrial hygiene fields and professions.”
Total attendance was over 1400, an increase of almost 40 percent over 2009. More than 125 booths were staffed by almost 600 exhibit personnel, a rise in both categories of 25 percent. Paid attendance was also up by over a half. This illustrates that both the presentations and the exhibits draw the crowd. Exhibit only attendees also increased nicely by over 20 percent.
Vendor-sponsored lunches at the heart of the exhibit area were provided for all. Chemplex Industries and Analytical Services, Thermo Scientific, Intertek, PAC and Perkin Elmer were represented, garnering some informal interaction between attendees and exhibitors over the lunch table.
