Ravin Mirchandani and Priyanka Sahasrabudhe assess India’s hydrogen roll-out plans and outlook for electrolysers
5 MMT of green hydrogen per year by 2030. This is the ambitious target proposed by the Government of India to reduce the country’s reliance on imported fossil fuel.
Towards this, the country’s National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) is providing financial incentives of approximately $1.5 billion for green hydrogen generation and another $500m for electrolyser manufacturing in India.
The Mission also envisions pilot projects utilising green hydrogen in low carbon steel, mobility and shipping, as well as the development of green hydrogen hubs.
