Industrial gas producers and distributors around the world today rely on high-pressure shutoff hand valves for processing and filling industrial gas cylinders. These heavy-duty valves are used on manifold systems, fill plants, tube trailers, and other high-pressure piping systems.
Hand valves need to be reliable, easy to operate, safe, and cost-effective since so many are required at each plant. These valves operate for thousands of cycles and ideally, they should require minimal to no maintenance in order for production to run smoothly, accurately, efficiently, and consistently.
In both medical oxygen and industrial oxygen cylinder filling, the hand valve most often used is a brass valve which must meet the requirements of oxygen gas applications typically having completed and passed an oxygen surge pressure test which evaluates the ignition sensitivity of the valve. The valve must complete the testing without any indication of ignition or failure, thereby receiving an oxygen-safe approval at a specific operating pressure.
