Now in its thirteenth year GAWDA Gives Back continues to support local charities. Each year, GAWDA asks its members to donate funds to a local charity or charities as a way of giving back to the city that hosts their annual convention. Last year, the fundraising effort went over the million dollar mark.
Dave Mahoney, Past President of GAWDA and founder of the GAWDA Gives Back initiative with his wife Donna, said: “We couldn’t have written a better script regarding the growth of this program and the generosity of our membership.” The program has impacted thousands of lives.
To keep that tradition of giving going strong, GAWDA hit the ground running this year with a Silent Auction to benefit the Gives Back program at its Spring Management Conference in Baltimore. The tradition of a Silent Auction as a way to kick off this fundraising effort began at the Gettysburg regional meeting two years ago and was such a success it has become an annual event. With over $18,000 raised at this year’s auction, GAWDA is on its way to reaching this year’s goal.
