The green hydrogen economy is one of the most exciting sites of economic and technological growth in the energy sector. Governments and industry worldwide are turning to hydrogen as an important part of our clean and secure energy future.
Countries like Japan have made commitments to a hydrogen economy, and South Korea has promised two ‘hydrogen cities’ in 2022. China has continued to push hydrogen as part of its economic and ecological strategy. Further, the McKinsey Group reports that hydrogen will represent a significant share of decarbonisation efforts if the global community is to fulfill the requirements of the IPCC’s threshold to keep global warming at or near 1.5ºC.
This has created unique opportunities for automakers, electricity and gas utilities, oil and gas companies, and technology firms to take an active role in reducing carbon emissions.
