Engineering and manufacturing company ACD has been providing cryogenic equipment solutions for more than 60 years. The company began in the early 1950s as an off-shoot of Aerojet General in Southern California (US) manufacturing cryogenic pumps for oxygen.
It was subsequently acquired by Air Research Company (AIRCO) and became the Airco Cryogenic Division (ACD), manufacturing cryogenic equipment for its industrial gas parent. Today, Santa Ana, California-headquartered ACD LLC is part of the Cryogenic Industries Group of companies which manufacture gas processing equipment, small-scale process plants, vaporizers and heat exchangers, cryogenic centrifugal and reciprocating pumps for industrial gas, clean energy and well service markets.
In 2017, Cryogenic Industries was acquired by Nikkiso Co. Ltd of Japan, a global manufacturer of high performance products in the aerospace, industrial and medical industries. Nikkiso’s acquisition of ACD will allow the company to continue enhancing and expanding its cryogenic technologies and realise opportunities provided as part of a global company. Nikkiso plans to expand the group’s R&D programmes and continue to bring new innovative solutions quickly to the emerging markets.
