Aluminium medical cylinders, up to 30% lighter in weight than their steel counterparts, took hold in the 1960s and 1970s and rapidly rose to the forefront of the medical sector.
This trend has continued in the decades since too, as pioneers in this sector have responded to growing demand for even lighter-weight cylinders with the development of stronger aluminium alloys capable of pressures up to 300 bar without increasing the size of the vessel.
