Intermodal tank containers have become a staple of bulk liquid logistics worldwide and they are well on the way to achieving similar prevalence where gas transport is concerned.
The tank container as a means of bulk liquid and gas transportation is remarkable for its safety, efficiency and, not least, its impeccable environmental credentials, allowing the most efficient means of transport to be used and, in particular, helping to move heavy freight off overcrowded roads and onto rail.
A tank container is basically a pressure vessel contained in a robust protective carrying frame that allows a range of transport modes to be employed interchangeably to move the cargo. Its safety derives from its extremely strong and resilient design, which allows the cargo to be manipulated as a single package from source to destination and cuts out the need for decanting or additional handling when transferring from one mode of transport to another. Personnel, the environment, and cargo are all protected from potential harm.
