An introduction to…Ambient air vaporizers

0

Although ambient air vaporizers might be seen as a rather ubiquitous component of the industrial gas use process, they are nevertheless a critical and mandatory sub-system – and their future is looking bright.

Put simply, ambient vaporizers are heat exchangers which extract energy from ambient air and use it to vaporize and superheat cryogenic fluids and liquefied gases. They can be used to vaporize nitrogen, oxygen, argon, carbon dioxide (CO2), ammonia, chlorine, LNG, ethylene and all other cryogens and liquefied gases.

Since ambient air vaporizers utilise the free, renewable energy contained in the surrounding air, they do not consume fossil fuels or produce emissions – meaning they can be considered a very green technology. When this is coupled with the advantages of zero operating cost, zero maintenance and long-life – due to the absence of moving parts and the use of corrosion resistant, aluminium alloy material – it becomes clear why ambient air vaporizers have become the preferred means to vaporize and superheat cryogenic fluids and     liquefied gases.
