Jack Butler, President and CEO of Butler Gas Products Co. Inc., has assumed the position of Chair for the Compressed Gas Association (CGA). In an exclusive interview, Jack Butler shares with gasworld his business and safety philosophies and discusses how he plans to assist the industrial gas industry maintain safe practice and promote self-regulation.
After growing up in the business, Jack Butler joined the Butler Gas Products team full-time in 1975. He became President of the organization in 1977 when his father, founder John A. Butler, passed away after his battle with cancer. Jack Butler purchased the business from his father’s estate from 1977 to 1980 and to this day remains the majority stockholder of Butler Gas Products.
“My typical duties at Butler Gas Products are serving as head scout, banker, wholesale sales guy, and mentor,” he explained. “My career started when I was 24 with great advice from my father, our company’s founder, before he died: “Get active in the industry. Our industry has great people and experiences that will train you when I’m gone.” I listened to his advice and have made a career of getting active in the industry.”
