8 Rivers, a North Carolina-based decarbonization technologies business, has talked at length to gasworld about a breakthrough hydrogen technology it has developed called 8RH2, which captures essentially all CO2 emissions while producing hydrogen and ammonia. The company is targeting the US with the technology as it brings it to market, with the chance to access the clean-energy incentives created by 2022’s Inflation Reduction Act in its sights.
Steve Milward, newly confirmed as Chief Operating Officer at 8 Rivers, said there was a huge international opportunity for the company to go after, with the prize of gaining a clear first-mover advantage.
“If we can be first to market in this hydrogen–ammonia–CO2 space with a superior technology that is a remarkable position to occupy,” said Milward. “We absolutely think we can do it. We are a small and nimble business and not tied down by complexity. If we build out our advantage over the next 24 months, it will take us a long way.”
